Between You & Me
2020 - ongoing
Growing up, cancer has always been a common dialogue in my household. After my dads passing, I didn’t think it would infiltrate my life again. Truth is, shit happens. Imagine you just finished high school and change is imminent. Excited to start your journey into a new adult life, starting to look for yourself, shaping your identity. All of a sudden, priorities shift, and a lump on your chest turns out to be more than just an inflamed muscle. Its cancer, a lymphoma. But its not me.. its my best friend, my partner in crime, my sister. This is merely what I witnessed by looking into her eyes. Eyes too young to see what they were quickly faced with, too young to make such tough decisions. Rapidly, cancer found a way to squeeze into her life.. and mine. Her tenacious mindset kept us both afloat, and what now seems like more of a distant memory was once the reality of two 20 year olds girls going through life together.
This project aims to raise teenage and young adult cancer awareness. Featuring true faces of resilience, I hope it makes people think twice. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. To everyone I had a chance to meet and connect with through this.
